This shrine is dedicated to Maeda Toshiie, the founder of the Kaga Domain, and his lawful wife, Matsu. The divine gate, built in 1875, features a unique blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles reflecting the spirit of civilization and enlightenment of that era. The sacred lamp on the top floor, fitted with five-colored stained glass (giyaman), is said to have once served as a lighthouse. The shrine's strolling pond garden is a famous garden that preserves the atmosphere of the Edo period.
